  1. Dad says:

“If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.”

“Anything is possible. You can be told that you have a 90-percent chance or a 50-percent chance or a 1-percent chance, but you have to believe, and you have to fight.”

    ― Lance Armstrong

  14. Joyce Ellis (Your Nana) says:

A LETTER TO MY GRANDDAUGHTER, MY WONDROUS MIRACLE

    Dear Kendall:

From the beginning, you have been a tender breeze of Joy and Laughter that blew gently into my Heart and made it –so easy to love you.

There you have remained, growing as a loving person of Consideration, Kindness, Concern, Respect and Sensitivity to the Needs of Others.

You gained a Moral Character, Inner Strength, Devotion and Wisdom that has made you wise beyond your years. You have always been so willing to share your generous good nature and uplifting happiness with everyone you have ever come in contact with, enriching not just my life, but the lives of So Many.

Since a very little girl, you were never frightened by thunderstorms and the very minute the rain stopped and the sun came out, you were out the door and looking up for a “RAINBOW”.

Kendall, I fully know the determination and FIGHT that is within you to make it through this storm and you WILL reach your “Rainbow That is Out There Waiting For You”.

Thinking of you, Praying for you, Loving you –with every Beat of My Heart, YOUR NANA

Kendall, I remember when I first met you when Jen and you were in preschool and what a beautiful young lady you were then. Seeing you guys interact and have such carefree times. Then in Middle School, I could see what a wonderful young woman you were becoming and now to learn you are sticken with this horrible disease, but just like you were as a child, you have decided not to let it beat you, you are taking it in stride and determined to beat it as only you know you can. I admire that in you and know that with God’s help you can overcome this. Keep fighting like a Knight and together (with all the love and support of this community) you will prevail!

I have never seen a community come together for someone like they have for you. You are truly special. Keep fighting (like a Knight) and we’ll keep praying. God bless you and your family.

  20. Aaron says:

Your parents concern(s) last every second of every day, praying and hoping that all goes well. I want to share with you a very simple verse you can find in the book of Philippines. As an athlete I’m sure you’ve seen this verse before, but cling to these words, they are very powerful!

Philippines 4:13 – I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.

I pray God gives you strength as you battle disease.

    God Bless,

    Aaron

  23. Kimberly says:

    Kendall,
I’ve just recently learned of your story as we have added you in our Bible study class to our prayer list. God is absolutley amazing, and He can, will, and still works miracles everyday. If you put your faith in Him, fully, He will be with you every step of the way! I wrote a get well note this morning with a Bible verse in it to someone from our church and felt God was telling me to send that verse to someone else. I had no idea who, but when I called about purchasing tickets to the benefit concert for you, I learned of this website. I know God wants me to share this Bible verse with you. I’m praying for your healing, a comfortable recovery, and for you to have a wonderful relationship and peace with Jesus Christ!
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

I wanted to thank the Bayne family for having me at the silent auction last night representing Campus Emporium. As our donation raised only a portion of the proceeds, just seeing the outpouring of support for Kendall and the family was something special. Susan Powell (alias Mrs. Webster)

  33. Annette Baker says:

    Jere,
My name is Annette Baker, a cousin of Harry Cannady. He recently told me of the situation in your family.
I have an 11 month old daughter and can not begin to imagine what you must be going through. Frankly,I hope I never do, so I’m not going to try and say things to you like ‘I understand’, because I don’t. But I do know what it’s like to watch someone I love go through cancer. I lost my dad 2 years ago to it. We were very good friends and it seemed very unfair. I had times of being angry at God, and feeling cheated. But the only person that really knew what I was going through was God. -my dad thaught me that.
During a time in my life when I was going through a very hard time, it was Dad who gave me the best gift anyone could have given. He told me that he could not go through the situation with me, as much as he wanted to. That the only person who knew everything that I was thinking and feeling was Jesus Christ, and I had to learn to trust Him. -I know this was very hard for my dad to say because he was crying as he said it, but it was true.
I would do my dad an injustice if I did not pass the same gift along to you. Please trust in Christ right now, talk to Him, yell at Him, just be real with Him. He loves you and your family so much. He’s the only one who can really go through this situation with you; and He will.

    With love,
    Annette

  34. Haley Alston says:

I am praying for you and believe with all of my heart that you can do it. You can fight this cancer and you can beat it! You WILL beat it! You have an amazing support syst. You have inspired me! Hugs from Geanu!

  35. April Eckels says:

    Kendall and Family:

I recently saw a youtube link on facebook about you. Hang in there! My brother and I both had childhood cancer: osteosarcoma. I was diagnosed at 11 and my brother at 21. I am now 32 and he is 26 yesterday!! We both lost our right leg to the cancerous tumors, and he had a small spot in his lungs. We did a ton of chemotherapy and eventually we were released. Please know that I am praying for you and I believe that you can beat this. I live about 2 1/2 hours from Roanoke near Harrisonburg VA. If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to let me know!! 🙂

  36. Kim DeGidio says:

    Kendall,
Looking back on the summers at FH and the Blue Devils basketball team in like 4th grade, I don’t think I’ve ever seen your face without your gorgeous smile. Never change that. I remember one time when out basketball team came in dead last in the tournament, you smiled, laughed, and gave everyone brownies and a little ribbon that said “Great Effort Award!”. It’s still hanging on my wall.
If anyone in the world had to be faced with this challenge, you’re the least deserving, but also the most likely to prevail. I have 100% faith in you that by the day FH opens this summer, you’ll be swimming right next to all of us completely healthy, and still smiling. I don’t know anyone stronger than you that could handle this with such confidence and grace. You’re so beautiful on the inside and out. Fight hard, keep calm, and carry on. <3

“I believe in belief, for its own shining sake. To believe in the face of utter hopelessness, every article of evidence to the contrary, to ignore apparent catastrophe. What other choice is there? We are so much stronger than we imagine, and belief is one of the most valiant and long-lived human characteristics. To believe, when all along we humans know that nothing can cure the briefness of this life, that there is no remedy for our basic mortality, that is a form of bravery. To continue believing in yourself…believing in whatever YOU chose to believe in, that is the most important thing.” -Lance Armstrong

Keep believing in yourself Kendall <3 I know everyone else is too. Fight Like A Knight!

    Love always,
    Kim

  37. Anne Scott Hopkins says:

You are for sure taking a fantastic approach on this situation. Just like plenty of people have been saying, keep your trust in Christ because He WILL guide you through this. He’s with you right now, along with every prayer coming your way.

  46. Martha Spencer says:

You must be a very special person for so many out there helping you. My brother has this disease also. So many people who we did not even know were praying for him and giving gifts of money to help with bills. I am a retired police officer and started a little spray on tattoo business. We don’t make much but over the summer the events I did I set aside money from that for someone in need. After church today I read an article and then went to this page. Most importantly you have my prayers. But I have made a donation at SunTrust. Also, if I can help with the spray on tattoos as a fund raiser for you please let me know.
    Martha

We will continue to pray for you. Please know that there are many, many people that are wishing you a speedy recovery and full remission. We may have never met but you are a very special girl. 72. FOR KENDALL says:

    at times, lifes path
    seems filled with things
    that make the going rough,
and we wish there were a smoother road,
for we well we’ve had enough…….
but, if we pause a moment
    and remember Who’s in charge
the hills that loom ahead of us
    no longer seem so large,
    and every rock before us,
when we know we’re not alone,
becomes, not just a stumbleing block,
    but one more stepping stone.

  73. Al Wilmer says:

Kendall, I felt the tears swell in my eyes as I read Lauren Nepper’s memories of your good times together. Your name caught my eye because my former boss’s name is Don Kendall. I apologize for taking so long to familiarize myself with your spirit and how strongly the community has responded to support you. I wholeheartedly want to be a part of that support in every way. Although I am 84 years young, I plan to attend the Bluegrass event Saturday. May God hear our prayers to restore you to normal so that you might be one of His examples that God is good and caring. May God continue to be with you and us in our efforts to keep you as our inspiration.

  74. Evan says:

The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes their way. -Anonymous
I’m praying for you Kendall, you can definitely beat this; I know you can. We all believe that you can and will. Love you pre-school buddy!!

  75. Al Wilmer says:

Kendall, I had the pleasure of meeting you, your mom, and younger brother tonight. I learned that your parents were blessed with two beautiful, intelligent children who are achievers–a perfect family one would think. However, sometimes God puts a couple “bumps in the road to test our faith. I believe that the faith of your family, along with your supporters’ faith and prayers, you will be delivered from this illness and be made whole again. I believe God has a plan for you to live your dreams to help others in your career in Nursing. I further believe that Connor will excel in his endeavors because he is an outstanding young man. He is very impressive the way he presents himself–a characteristic of the family. Since your illness is rare and aggressive, I know the costs are enormous. I would urge the community to buy and wear the Team Kendall T-shirts and braclets for awareness and to contribute to any Sun Trust branch to the bank account: Jere Bayne for the Benefit of Kendall Bayne. Let’s all work together for Kendall’s speedy recovery, with God rewarding our faith.

  76. Al Wilmer says:

Hi, Kendall! You made me look good in that picture! I did not realize it would be there so soon! I should have known better, since you are an active person who does not procrastinate. I am really proud to be in your company. You might have thought that I was just doing a one-night stand. I have more plans for your support. I wear my Team Kendall T-shirt with my jacket open to give it exposure. You just keep fighting! God, your other supporters, and I will be right there with you. I will be eagerly awaiting God’s reward for our faith! Is there anything I can do for you or your family (running errands, etc.) or your other events? Best regards to your family!

  77. makayla says:
