Kendall Bayne is an energetic 17 year old junior at Cave Spring High School who was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer, Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma in February 2011.

This cancer is so rare, that there is little information about it. Only 1 in every 2 to 3 million children are diagnosed with it yearly.

Kendall endured an 11 hour surgery to remove her right adrenal gland and an 11cm tumor. The initial post operative scan came back negative which provided some optimism that the cancer had been contained. However, her 6 month follow up scan in late August revealed the terrible news that the cancer had spread to both her lungs.

Kendall is now working with a specialist at Carilion, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, UVA Medical Center, John Hopkins, Duke Medical Center, Dana Farber, and TGEN to beat this cancer. We are taking a collaborative approach to give Kendall the best care available.
