Archive for The Baynes

Greetings from Scottsdale

Kendall will begin treatment tomorrow in a Phase I study here in Arizona. It is our plan to treat for a couple of months and monitor how she is responding to this treatment. We also have enrolled her in a tumor sequencing study at the University of Michigan and hope to have more information about her specific disease in a few months. She is feeling good and has great energy.

The Phoenix Sun dancers allowed Kendall to attend a practice and be with the dance team before the game last night and cheer. Special thanks to Jacque Alonzo and Taryn Carmichael. We really appreciate the kindness and hospitality! It was an amazing evening! Go Suns!

Thanks again to all of our Team Kendall supporters. Because of you, we are able to get Kendall to the experts doing research on ACC.

On a sad note, Kendall lost a great friend and a warrior last week to cancer; Josh Rominger; 17 year old from Davie County, NC. Our paths crossed last spring, and Kendall and Josh forged an incredible friendship.  It has been very difficult dealing with his loss. Please pray for his family.

As always, thank you all for loving Kendall! God Bless, JB

Going to Arizona

Kendall and I will be driving to Arizona to meet with our medical team there to have scans and discuss our options moving forward. We are hoping to enroll in a clinical trial that is not offered anywhere else at this time. Kendall is feeling great and has been enjoying her friends over the Easter break. Thanks again for everyone’s love and support. It continues to make a difference and helps Kendall get the care she needs to win this fight. God Bless and thank you all for everything.  The Bayne’s

Great Day to Relay for the Cure

What a great event hosted by Roanoke Valley Schools. Kendall was asked to give the opening speech to start the first relay organized by local students throughout the valley. Special thanks to Mrs. Tracey Lange for making this event a reality and to all of the students on the committee for making this a huge success. We had 34 teams and over 300 participants that raised over $20 thousand dollars! Awesome! Our team, Kendall’s Krusaders raised a team high $3500 dollars and had 24 members. Thanks to everyone that donated to our team. Dr Atkinson was there at the closing ceremony and gave a beautiful speech. Thanks Mandy, everyone appreciates everything you do for kids with cancer in the Roanoke Valley. Kendall continues to receive daily radiation and has one more week left of treatment. She will be going to the University of Michigan and enrolling in a tumor sequencing study next week. It is our hope that this will shed some light on potential targets that we can look into treating. Thanks again for all the love and support. Team Kendall continues to support Kendall and we are so thankful. Keep Believing, Keep Fighting! We Love You Kenny!

Next Steps…

Kendall will begin her next cycle of chemotherapy today. We have also met with Dr. Buck, a Radiation Oncologist who will begin 3 weeks of radiation to her abdomen to shrink/kill the tumors causing her pain. After these treatments, we will then decide her next course of therapy. Thank you all for the continued support and love for Kendall.

Stay strong Kendall, Keep Fighting Like A Knight! We Love You!

One step at a time…

Next Steps

Another Challenge

Kendall began having pain in her abdomen on Friday of last week. After a visit to the ER, she was prescribed pain medication to ease her discomfort. Monday she was admitted to the hospital and scans revealed a couple of tumors had grown which are causing the pain.

She is home resting and we are considering our options on how to best help her with this current challenge. We appreciate all the support and nice gestures everyone continues to do for Kendall.

I will let everyone know when we have decided our next steps.

Special thanks to our medical team and the Lewis Gale nurses on 6 West.

Hang in there Kenny, Hope is never lost, you just have to Believe!

We Love you, Jere, Andrea, Connor and all of Team Kendall

Roanoke County Schools Relay (March 16th 2-7pm)

I wanted to share with every one that Roanoke County Schools will be hosting their own Relay for Life event on Saturday, March 16th at Cave Spring Middle School Track from 2-7 pm. Kendall will be one of the speakers for this event.

If you are interested in donating or signing up a team for this, go to www.relayforlife.org and type in zip code 24018 in the find an event box.

Also, if you have questions you can email michelle.bisbee@cancer.org or call Michelle Bisbee @ 540-774-2716.

Kendall continues to have minimal side effects with this current treatment. She has finished one cycle (three treatments) and will begin her second cycle next Tuesday.

Thanks again for all of the prayers.  We couldn’t fight this without our Team Kendall supporters. Hope to see you at the relay!

Nothing like a good friend!

Kendall is doing good with her treatments. She is getting treated once a week for three weeks and and then will have a week off before starting again. Side effects are minimal compared to the other chemo she has received. We are planning on continuing this for a couple of months and then we will scan to determine if she is responding to this therapy.

Thanks for the wonderful care at Blue Ridge Cancer Care, Dr Fintel, Elizabeth Skaggs and the awesome nurses there at the Salem office.

Thanks again for all of our Team Kendall supporters. Kendall’s therapy is estimated around $5500 per treatment and you all have helped us be able to give her the best care available. We are forever grateful!

Also, we have had a lot of questions about ways to support ACC research. TGEN in Arizona has been a great resource for us and a world leader in researching ACC. It is a non-profit organization and any gift you give will go directly towards finding a cure for ACC. Here is the link: http://www.tgenfoundation.org/netcommunity/TeamKendall

Thanks again for all the love and support. God Bless. The Bayne’s

Billy’s Benefit was a Blast!

Kendall & Uncle David at the Dance!

Kendall & Uncle David at the Dance!

Team Kendall continues to amaze us with their kindness, love and support for Kendall. It is incredible to see the community continue to rally around Kendall to help her become cancer free!

The Purple and Black dance was a huge success. We are so grateful to Kimberly Daniels who spearheaded this event. Special thanks to Roger Neel for allowing us to have this event at his establishment Billy’s Restaurant.

The band Fuzzy Logic was the perfect choice to entertain and play a great show. You guys rocked the house!

Kendall has been able to be a teenager these last few weeks and hang with her friends, go to ball games, and she has even been to school a few days.

On Tuesday of this week she will begin chemo. We pray she will tolerate this new regimen and more importantly respond to this treatment. It is our plan to treat her for a couple of months and then scan to measure its effectiveness. Thank you all for the love. We appreciate each and everyone of you. God Bless.

You can do it Kendall! We all believe in you!

Much love, The Bayne’s
