Billy’s Benefit was a Blast!

Kendall & Uncle David at the Dance!

Kendall & Uncle David at the Dance!

Team Kendall continues to amaze us with their kindness, love and support for Kendall. It is incredible to see the community continue to rally around Kendall to help her become cancer free!

The Purple and Black dance was a huge success. We are so grateful to Kimberly Daniels who spearheaded this event. Special thanks to Roger Neel for allowing us to have this event at his establishment Billy’s Restaurant.

The band Fuzzy Logic was the perfect choice to entertain and play a great show. You guys rocked the house!

Kendall has been able to be a teenager these last few weeks and hang with her friends, go to ball games, and she has even been to school a few days.

On Tuesday of this week she will begin chemo. We pray she will tolerate this new regimen and more importantly respond to this treatment. It is our plan to treat her for a couple of months and then scan to measure its effectiveness. Thank you all for the love. We appreciate each and everyone of you. God Bless.

You can do it Kendall! We all believe in you!

Much love, The Bayne’s

Happy Holidays

We hope everyone is enjoying this Holiday Season. Kendall is getting stronger by the day and her appetite has returned to enjoy some holiday treats. We continue to meet with her medical team to plan out her next course of therapy. We have decided to give her a break through December. This will allow her body to recover and enjoy some time with friends and family. Special thanks to Dr Kartesz, Shannon Kartesz and Adair McCabe for sponsoring and decorating the Team Kendall tree at The Hotel Roanoke benefiting United Way of Roanoke Valley. Thanks to everyone who has signed an ornament and voted to win the best designed tree. It will be on display until New Years Day. Also, thanks again Coach Hicks and Cave Spring Basketball for your continued support. Our family and Kendall are so blessed to have everyone supporting her to win this fight.

God Bless all of Team Kendall! Much love, The Bayne’s.

Home and Resting

Kendall was allowed to come home today after spending 11 days in the Hospital. She is excited to be here and its good to see her have an appetite again. She is very weak and tired which is to be expected but otherwise still smiling. It’s so good for our family to have her home. Our focus now will be helping her gain her strength back so she can enjoy the Holidays. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers. Also, thanks to our medical team for their excellent care and support during this stay.

God Bless, The Bayne’s

Hoping to be home for Thanksgiving

Kendall was admitted back to the hospital early Thursday for a fever, dehydration and some respiratory issues. She has since been moved out of ICU and is currently on the Pediatric floor. She also is neutropenic which has complicated her fighting through this illness. They are treating her with antibiotics, pain meds and plenty of fluids to help her get home. Hopefully we can get her fever under control and wean her from the pain meds so she will be able to come home and enjoy Thanksgiving. Our medical team is keeping her comfortable and giving her the best of care.  We hope all of Team Kendall has a great Thanksgiving. We are so blessed by all of the love and support for our Kenny!

God Bless, The Bayne’s

Another 5 days

Kendall is home now after five days of dreaded chemo. This was a tough week of being nauseous, elevated blood pressure, no appetite, and just trying to survive the effects of chemo. The anti-nausea drugs keep her drowsy so she sleeps the majority of the week. Thanks to Dr Edwards and all of the staff at Carilion Pediatric floor for making the best of a tough situation. Kendall will be recuperating this week and hopefully not have any issues before the next treatment. Thanks for all the prayers and support. We really appreciate all of Team Kendall. Kendall continues to fight this disease with the hope and determination to be cancer free!

God Bless, The Baynes

Happy Halloween

We had to push Kendall’s chemo back a week because last Wednesday she was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. She is doing good and the antibiotics appear to be working as she is breathing without any signs of discomfort. Thanks for all of the well wishes and support. We really appreciate all the love Team Kendall has given our family and Kendall during her quest to be cancer free.  Below is a video of our trip in August where Kendall and I were able to be part of First Descents outdoor adventure.

God Bless Team Kendall

Homecoming 2012

Kendall was nominated again this year to be one of three to represent her class for homecoming. Fortunately, she was able to go to the game and dance after her blood counts stabilized on Thursday. Thank you all at Cave Spring High for your continued support and love. We really appreciate it. She is feeling good after a couple of weeks of being sick. She will be  spending some time with her friends before her next treatments on October 29th. Kendall, you continue to fight this disease with grit, determination and the grace of an angel. We love you and we all know you can do this. Stay strong, keep believing!

Love, Mom, Dad, Connor and all of Team Kendall.

Second Round

Kendall had her portacath removed and replaced by Dr. Dinsmore Monday morning at Carilion Hospital. Unfortunately, the first one that she received was not easily accessible and was causing a few problems. She was a little uncomfortable yesterday and we hope this one will do its job. She also began her 5 days of chemo on top of this procedure receiving an 8 hour infusion last night. Like last time, she is tired and nauseous from the chemo and sleeping a lot from the anti-nausea medicines. Hopefully we can keep her hydrated and comfortable during these challenging few days. It’s very frustrating to watch her endure these hardships. Kendall’s determination and grit are amazing. She’s one tough girl! All of her nurses are so accommodating and taking great care of her. Thanks again for everyone on Team Kendall  supporting and sending her well wishes. It helps us all stay focused and motivated for Kendall to be cancer free.

Also wanted to say thanks to the Brookville High Cheerleaders for donating and supporting Kendall last week during your cheer competition. We are so blessed to have everyone helping our Kendall beat this disease.

God Bless, The Baynes

Thanks Hokies!

Kendall received an amazing gift from the Virginia Tech Hokies football team today. All of the coaches and every football player on the team each wrote on VT stationary personal messages to her to keep fighting and to never give up. It’s so awesome to see these messages from Coach Beamer and Cave Spring’s own Michael Cole and the rest of the team and coaches. It is amazing to read and know that these young men are cheering Kendall on as she continues her quest to be cancer free. A special thanks to Kendall’s math teacher Ms. Haun for making this happen, we really appreciate the support.

Go Hokies! Go Team Kendall!

A winning combination!
