Thank you to everyone involved at the CSHS fundraiser this past Thursday before school. We are so blessed to be a part of this community. The school had buzz cuts, face painting, hair ribbons and a pancake breakfast to raise funds and gain support for Team Kendall.
Special thanks to the ladies from the different salons for donating your time and skills to give the haircuts. Mr. Neale and Principal Spangler were very brave to allow Kendall to buzz their hair. The spirit and enthusiasm continues to grow and we are so grateful for all the love.
Thank you all, teachers, and fellow students for helping Kendall stay strong and Fight Like A Knight! God Bless, JB

AHS students, clubs, and organizations have been collecting money for Kendall Bayne of Cave Spring High School. She has a rare form of cancer called Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma.Over $1100 was raised due to the efforts of the AHS cheerleaders, FCCLA, Youth and Government, Key Club, Expressions, Students for Christ, leadership class, and the MAC Club. A competition was held among first block classes to see who could raise the most money. The first block classes of Mrs. Green, Mrs. Terrell, and Mrs. Spinks were the winners.

We would like for everyone to know how lucky we are that Kerri Cornett is part of our family. She loves her niece Kendall and has and will continue to do anything possible for her. Bella Magazine really made this fundraiser a first class event. A huge thank you to Joey Beck of Bella for helping to organize this and making this night such a huge success. A special thanks to Doug Heptinstall for letting us use the American Legion Building. Tim Martin and his band Project Four were awesome as usual and were so generous to play at this event for free. You guys are great and I can’t wait to have a big celebration next spring when Kendall is cancer free! The food that was prepared by Wildwood Smokehouse Barbecue was as good as it gets. Thank you guys for the donations as well. For all of the volunteers, we thank you for helping make this a great night. All of the vendors, friends who donated over 175 items, I am speechless. Because of your unselfishness, this event helped out not only financially, but brought more awareness to Kendall’s journey. We now have more people praying for her and wishing her well. Thank you all for loving Kendall and with this kind of support, she will be ok.
A Letter Of Thanks From Jere Bayne September 19, 2011
Genentech,
I want everyone to know how much I wish I were standing up here to tell you how special my daughter Kendall is. In fact, I wish she were in front of you. Kendall is one of those people that make everyone she comes in contact with a better person.
She has the entire community supporting her and cheering her on. Her classmates have rallied and are showing her how proud they are. They came up with the idea of White Wednesdays for hope. That’s when our slogan became “Team Kendall~ Fight Like a Knight” (school mascot). Her boyfriend said, “now its time for us to be your cheerleader.”
Kendall has said that wearing white might not seem like a big deal, but in her eyes knowing everyone is with her; gives her the support and love to take this cancer on. She was interviewed and asked what would you tell people? True to herself, she said, “I would remind people to always tell others how much you love them and give them hugs!” Kendall wants to grow up and be a neonatologist. She spent last fall job shadowing a doctor in the NICU. She always wants to help others, and now, in return, she is getting the help. I have seen first hand the power of people and the kindness of strangers. It’s hard to believe all the love and support our family has received, but it is so needed and welcomed. All of this love is what helps to get us through our bad days and keeps a smile on Kendall’s face. As I have told people, we still have many challenges ahead, but the help from our family, friends and co-workers like you is what gives Kendall the hope and determination that she needs.
We always say Genentech is for the patients, but I want you to know they are for the employees too. I can’t imagine having to go through this without the support of our company. Thank you so much to Scott, Dave, Jerry, Jeff, Ann and everyone else. You all have given me the courage and strength to help Kendall and make me proud to be a member of Genentech. Please give yourself a round of applause for giving my daughter hope by wearing white today. It really does make a difference and I know that Kendall is so grateful.
This Friday Kendall will be honored for the second year in a row to represent her class of 2014 on the homecoming court. She is my world. May God bless her. Please pray for her chance to be the miracle.
Coach Ficarro, Thank you so much for all of your hard work organizing the Zumba-thon fundraiser. The food, silent auction and car wash were a great way for CSHS to show support for Kendall. We want everyone to know how special you guys are making Kendall feel during this difficult time. It was a both a beautiful day and a beautiful sight to see everyone come together to give Kendall added strength to fight this cancer. Please let everyone know that our family is so appreciative of all the love everyone is giving Kendall. The money that has been raised makes a difference and is one less thing I worry about, but the outpouring of support is the key for Kendall to stay focused and strong for her next hurdle in life. Thanks again for helping Kendall Fight Like A Knight. We are blessed to be in this community. The Bayne’s
