We made it back home late Thursday, and wanted everyone to know how our meeting(s) went. A special thanks to Mr. Troy Richards who introduced us to everyone from the President of TGEN, Mr. Bassoff, to lead scientist Dr. Kim Bussey of the Adrenocortical Unit. Also thanks to Dr. Demeure for discussing future options for her treatment . TGEN scientists are cutting edge and I encourage everyone to visit their website (tgen.org). Mr. Richards is a true inspiration to anyone fighting a rare cancer. He has fought ACC since 1999 and continues to show people there is hope with this cancer. Thanks again to all of our Team Kendall supporters for your help in making appointments with specialists a reality. We really appreciate it. Kendall and I will be leaving for Scottsdale, Arizona tomorrow to meet with Dr. Michael Demeure who is the Director & Clinical Professor of Rare Cancers at TGEN which is a non-profit Biomedical Research Institute. We are still scheduled for surgery at Duke; however we hope this trip will shed some light on other therapies and potential clinical trials after Kendall recovers from her next surgery. Thank you all for the continued love and support for Kendall. We are so blessed that everyone has gotten involved and made a difference in this journey. Thank you for the support you showed us at the game last night. Thank you Harry Cannady and Bud Dunbar for organizing a great night of bluegrass music. It was so good to meet and talk with so many nice people who wanted to come out and show their support and love for Kendall. With the 800 plus tickets that were sold, Team Kendall continues to grow in support and prayers to help her win this fight. Special thanks to the bands of Rusty Breedlove & Twisted Wires, Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, Adam Steffey & The Boxcars. Thank you to Dewey Peters for the sound engineering & a heartfelt thanks to Linny Whorton for gracing us with his wonderful music. All of the bands provided incredible music for our benefit. Today we visited Duke for her follow up appointments. Her CT scan did not show any new disease and she continues to improve physically from her last surgery. Although we know there is some disease in her right lung, it is asymptomatic and we are scheduled to operate and remove it January 6th. We will continue to watch for any symptoms, but this will allow her to fully heal and enjoy the holidays before returning to Duke. She plans on going to school part time to be with her friends. Even though we’ve never met any of these wonderful kids, not only did they raise money for Kendall, they continue to support her and we couldn’t be more touched. Special thanks to David Hirsch and Hailey Porth for all of your hard work making this video. Thank you Blacksburg High School!
Kendall is up and moving around and has even gone to Bojangles to get her favorite biscuit. She continues to get stronger and her appetite is getting back to normal. Her incisions have healed nicely and she continues to walk to get her lung back to full capacity. Thanks again for everyones help and prayers. It is so nice and comforting to know that you all are still supporting us. We will have a follow up appointment on the 17th at Duke to check on her recovery and then we will decide our next treatment plan. Take care and thank you so much, The Baynes
